As a Professional Accountant with over seven years of experience in Accounting, Auditing, and Finance, I am passionate about streamlining processes and improving financial reporting accuracy. A Chartered Accountant (ACA - Sri Lanka), I am currently working toward obtaining my CPA Canada designation. In my recent role as a Senior Accountant at Laker Financial Inc, I managed full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and analysis, developed financial models, and led financial planning for clients across Canada and the U.S, including those in the digital media technology, employee recruitment, retail, wholesale, and construction industries. My expertise also includes project accounting for construction companies and ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations. I implemented process improvements that significantly increased efficiency in month-end, year-end, and payroll functions. At Notion CPA, where I worked nearly one year, I gained full-cycle accounting experience in construction companies, digital marketing firms, and NGOs. My key responsibilities also included payroll management, as well as GST, PST, WCB, and EHT filings. Additionally, at Mercantile Investment & Finance PLC, Sri Lanka, I spent nearly two years performed cost accounting and analysis for branches and departmental. I also assisted in preparing monthly management accounts and engaged in ESG reporting for the company's annual reports using GRI, SASB, and UNSDGs frameworks. My four years at Ernst & Young Sri Lanka provided me with experience in assurance engagements, compilation engagements, and tax preparation for a range of publicly listed and private companies in industries such as hospitality, construction, wholesale, mining, and finance. I am proficient in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Xero, ADP, Oracle NetSuite, Wagepoint, and various other accounting tools. My technical expertise includes Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial modeling, as well as extensive knowledge of IFRS, ASPE, and ESG reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB). Additionally, I have demonstrated the ability to work in high-pressure environments and lead accounting and auditing teams, showcasing my interpersonal and communication skills. I am highly organized and skilled at prioritizing tasks, which has enhanced my capacity to manage workloads efficiently.
