About Lara Cemo

I am a Renal Dietitian at Fresenius Medical Care, where I provide medical nutrition therapy in an outpatient dialysis setting. My nutrition counseling style is inclusive of diverse cultures and focused on promoting overall health and building a healthy relationship with food. I meet people where they are at in their health journey and focus on "small wins" and progress over time. I completed my 1,200 hour supervised dietetic internship through Lehman College where I rotated in clinical and community settings throughout the New York City area. My educational background is predominantly in neuroscience, and I received my Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of California, Davis. However, during graduate school at University of Iowa, I discovered a passion for nutrition which led me to pivot and pursue dietetics. As a nutrition clinician, I'm very interested in the intersection of brain sciences and nutrition and the psychological impact of our relationship with food.
