About Lara Devries

As a dedicated Spanish teacher with a passion for language acquisition and education, I thrive on creating engaging learning experiences for my students through reading and story telling. I'm a "career transition" teacher, earning my Bilingual Transitional Educator's license and then my Master's in Teaching after spending ten years working in the non-profit education sector in Lima, Peru.I actively engage my students through input (reading and listening) as fundamental building blocks in language acquisition. I utilize Comprehensible Input (CI) strategies in just about everything I do, and am constantly working on improving strategies like write and discuss, PQAs, picture talks, movie talks, etc. Recently, I started a blog to document my rewards and failures (several some times!) in the CI classroom, as well as what I hope to be more CI focused student travel trips to Peru (and elsewhere). I also will start to utilize CI in higher education, which will be documented! Check it out:
