About Lara Kain

I am an experienced educator, consultant, and national speaker on whole-school, whole-community school system redesign in partnership with communities. I bring over two decades of experience at the local, state, and national level. Before joining OCDE I developed trauma-informed community schools in Los Angeles, worked for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction supporting school improvement and as the state homeless coordinator, and — my first love — teaching in alternative education settings. My wide range of experience — from supporting individual teachers in the classroom to designing a holistic trauma-informed schools pilot implemented in 20 schools across the country leads me to understand the macro and the micro. I have worked both as a teacher and administrator putting the science of building resilience-focused humanized environments into practice.
