About Lara Marsh

I am a person with the particular skillset to work in the short-term, mid-range timelines, as well as long-range tasks/visions. I strive to do/be better every day, and aim to share what I learn with other team/company members. I am skilled in project management including calendaring, team-building, and budgeting. My passion is Directing theatrical productions, whether classics or new works; dramas or musicals. I love to work with Intimacy Directing,(Historical research) Dramaturgy, and Dialects. My ultimate goal is sustained work Directing, as Artistic Director, Co-Artistic Director, or Guest Director. I also work on Director of Production/Production Manager positions. I work with live theatre and events for a range of audiences sized 50, to 5,500; indoor/outdoor/toured. Skills include collaboration, education, troubleshoot/problem solve, handle emergencies, last minute decisions, and working with high profile personalities. While I have a creative eye, I also function well with logistics. I believe navigating both worlds is one of my specialties. I have had many years of experience in casting productions, contracting, negotiating, hiring, scheduling, budgeting, budget reconciliation, writing grants, and managing companies sizes 1 - 250 persons. I love to keep busy! I am fast paced, and work well with deadlines. I strive to continuously learn. I have attended many seminars/workshops (and appropriate certifications) in Management, Working with Difficult Personalities, Leading, First Aid/CPR/Defibrillation, Active Shooter Training, and Covid Compliance Officer. The foundation of my experience of 30+ years in the industry began in Stage Management, of which I still work upon occasion, and teach/train. Other important qualities do not only highlight the rules and protocols. I whole-heartedly believe compassion, empathy, and communication are important to making sure the team/company have fun at their jobs while feeling safe to be themselves, having a voice. I pride myself in quality work."Close enough" are the two dirty words in my world. The world I prefer to exist in comprises of storytelling, intention, context, and humanity. While theatre is a job, it is also my passion, and my way of life. Of course, I do find time for other interests which include the appreciation and conservation on animal life, traveling, and always learning.
