About Lara Slimmer

I have over 20 years experience working in the mental health field. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse population with mental health and behavioral diagnoses. As a Psychiatric Caseworker, Clinician, and Mental Health Coordinator in the correctional system, I worked with individuals with mental health disorders, personality disorders, and co-morbid diagnoses. In this role, I also trained correctional staff on Suicide Deterrence, Psychiatric Emergencies, and Psychological Disorders commonly identified in the prison population. Additionally, I have had the experience of working with children with Pervasive Developmental Disorders and Conduct Disorders. As the ACT Team Leader, my responsibilities were to ensure that our clients with serious mental health disorders living in the community were receiving the appropriate services. For example, our clients were scheduled to see a therapist on a weekly basis, as well as being supervised by a case manager. Further, our clients saw our psychiatrist on a regular basis and our nurses followed up with the clients to oversee medication management. As the Team Leader, it was also my responsibility to supervise our staff members on a bi-weekly basis.
