About Larry Dietzel

I have 30+ years of Law Enforcement and Security related work experience involving both public and private sectors. I have worked at the Boone County Sheriff’s Department since 1987, working in Corrections, Patrol, SWAT, School Systems, Public Events for parking and security, Firearms instruction and armorer, Crime Prevention Presentations and Assessments, Teaching youth and adults. I have experience with investigation, documentation, conflict resolution, problem solving, community relations, technology, training civilians and coworkers. I have experience with leadership and budgeting, gained from my involvement with many 501c3 organizations and Boy Scouting programs for both youth and adults. This experience has developed my knowledge in budget assessment and funding allocation using limited funds, supervisory experience with deadlines and motivating volunteer staff members to complete the objectives of the organization. I am comfortable with desktop publishing, Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Word and Smartboard presentations, Excel data collection and mail merge. I have constructed and maintained many internet informational web pages over the years. I have spent most of my life working and living in the Columbia/Boone County area, giving me a vast perspective and investment in this community. I have participated in events using our parks and trails system as well as City and County venues, such as First Night, Roots and Blues, Boone County Fair, Harrisburg Pumpkin Fest, Football games, Living History events, Scout camp, to name a few. I am married and have two grown sons, daughter-in-law, three grandsons and one granddaughter. My family and I have enjoyed outdoor recreation for many years being active with Bicycle Riding, Tent and RV Camping, Canoeing, Fishing and Target Shooting.
