About Larry Smith
Larry P. Smith is a Supply Chain and Operations Executive with over 40 years of experience in Clinical Diagnostics and Medical Device companies. Larry has been a member of the Kenco Group Board of Directors since January 2019. He provides strategic guidance, direction and over site as a member of the Board. In September of 2019, Larry was inducted into the Bellwether League Healthcare Supply Chain Hall of Fame for exemplary service and leadership performance in supply chain operations and strategy. Larry is a frequent speaker at various conferences and Universities including MIT, Duke, Penn State, Rider, Rutgers, UPenn, Pittsburgh, AMR, and Aberdeen Research. He retired in 2017 from his role as Vice President, Global Supply Chain at Becton Dickinson and Company (BD), a $16 billion medical device, biosciences and diagnostics company headquartered in Franklin Lakes, NJ. His role was to establish and execute BD’s supply chain strategy globally. BD’s global supply chain was significantly upgraded and expanded into a widely acknowledged best in class operation. Larry currently is the Director of Graduate Business Programs and an Adjunct Professor at Rider University teaching Operations/Supply Chain to Undergrad and MBA students. Prior to joining BD in 2001, Larry was VP of Global Supply Chain Management for Dade Behring, a $1.5 billion clinical diagnostics co. From 1996-98, he was Vice President of Business Operations. Earlier, Larry held many assignments of increasing responsibility at DuPont. His broad business background includes leadership assignments in manufacturing, business/general management, sales, marketing, product development, and customer service. Larry has a BS in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University. In 2008 and 2010 BD was awarded the Aberdeen Group’s Supply Chain Achievement Award for overall Supply Chain Management Performance Excellence. In 2011, 12 and 13 BD was ranked the #1 manufacturer on Gartner’s top 25 Healthcare Supply Chain list and was consistently rated in the top 10 during Larry's time at BD. Larry serves on Rider University’s Supply Chain Executive Advisory Board, and recently served on the CSCR Sponsors Council at Penn State University, the Supply Chain Advisory Council at Rutgers University, and the Medical Device Supply Chain Council’s Advisory Board.
