Seamless, Effective, Lesson Guiding Assessment I believe the critical objective of an educator is to serve the student. I will do my best to provide a balanced and effective learning experience centered upon a focused, collaborative, meaningful and continuous assessment strategy. Classroom organization is the foundation required to provide a safe, secure learning environment that nurtures critical thinking while allowing for effective student – parent – teacher communication. Assessment plans must address the diversity of the community within. I will challenge myself to understand the diversity and learning characteristics of my students, and will work to continually refine the assessment practices that guide the learning of the overarching curriculum themes. I believe the “behind the scenes” effort on the part of the educator is crucial in order to maximize student success. Students must have a clear understanding of the learning outcomes and be active participants in the synthesis of accurate and relevant evidence of learning. Honest, appropriate lesson planning, a consistent, yet malleable message, regular self-reflection and continuous improvement will be vital parts of my preparation. I will access and stay current with ICT, being ever mindful of its ability to enhance the knowledge building of my students. I will remain true to myself and my students, and remind myself to look beyond potential roadblocks. I will not deviate or look for an easy way out of completing learning objectives. I will do my best to cooperate with my administration and colleagues while maintaining my focus on engaging my students. I will provide them access to tools and knowledge to allow them to prepare themselves as functional citizens, aware of who they are, the greater community, and most importantly, their potential.
