I am the founder and President of the Reentry Realities program, a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides an 18-week course training returning citizens to learn the skills they need to remain free. The program focuses on criminogenic needs, reentry paradigm, and the tools necessary to navigate complete reintegration into society for the former and currently incarcerated. Reentry Realities is a holistic program addressing the prosocial and psycho-social needs of each individual. We incorporate the 5 stages of the neuro-scientific method of brain change. The goal is to move our students from a hardwired state of emotion driven survival to a state of principle centered maturity. Incarceration cannot be intellectually resolved, only outgrown. My experience from being incarcerated on four occasions for a total of 28.5 years was the catalyst for creating the Reentry Realities program. The program serves as a survival guide for those preparing to reintegrate into society as free men and women utilizing a success driven combination of education based on experience, root causes of incarceration, the necessary tools to transform and acclimate oneself from a predator and parasite to a contributing partner with society. Emphasis is placed on developing a support system, mentors, family, and community integration to get back on track - and stay on track on the other side of the razor wire. Reentry Realities was written over a period of five years and developed as a program over an additional 12 years. A team of highly qualified reentry and legal professionals support the program.
