About Lars Andersson

Dr Andersson underwent both undergraduate and research training at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. Specialist in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 1981. PhD Thesis on experimental and clinical studies on replantation of avulsed teeth, 1988. Dr Odont, 1989, Docent at Karolinska Institute, 1990. In addition to his academic and research career, Dr Andersson achieved wide experience as an Oral Maxillofacial surgeon, Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in Västerås, Sweden, 1982-2002, and he was Chairman of this Department 1992-2002. He developed a Resident training program in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery approved by the Swedish National Board for Health and Welfare in 1990, and was Program Director for this program from 1992-2002. Belonging to the first generation of implant surgeons, he directed an international program in implant surgery from 1994-2002, in which implant surgeons from all continents of the world were trained. Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Kuwait University 2002-2017, and Chairman of the Department of Surgical Sciences 2006-2017, where he developed and ran a university clinic, taught, and conducted research. Since 2018, he has been a Senior Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Malmö University, Sweden. His main areas of interest are trauma, orthognathic, and implant surgery, and he has published more than 200 research articles in international peer-reviewed Medline-indexed scientific journals, plus several other articles in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His papers have received more than citations. H-factor 58. Invited speaker to more than 40 countries on all continents of the world. Dr. Andersson is the editor and chapter author of several international textbooks in the fields of Trauma and oral and maxillofacial surgery. Editor-in-Chief for the international Medline-indexed scientific journal Dental Traumatology 2007-2015. President of the International Association of Dental Traumatology 2011-2014. Board member of Dental Trauma Guide Competence Center. Dr Andersson was honored with the prestigious IADT Lifetime Achievement Award in Dental Traumatology in 2020.
