Currently at EMAT- Instruments: 3 probe corrected and monochromated FEI Titan (one also image corrected), FEI Osiris, FEI Tecnai, Tescan Mira SEM - Detectors: SuperX EDS, EELS GIF (Dual EELS); more experience needed: K2, Merlin - in-situ: different systems, still need to gain more experience- Maintenance and troubleshooting all instruments at EMAT - Teaching new students how to use the tools, detectors, techniques and in-situ equipment Previously (Uppsala University)- Instruments: FEI Titan Themis, FEI Tecnai F30, Zeiss Crossbeam 550, FEI Strata DB235 - Detectors: SuperX EDS, GIF Tridiem 863 - in-situ: DENSsolutions Wildfire H+- Working with STEM, TEM, FIB and SEM on a daily basis. Previously (TU Darmstadt)- Jeol 2100F, Jeol 3010, Philips CM20 As a materials scientist, I have a strong theoretical background in solid state physics and various materials synthesis and characterization methods. As a researcher, my true passion is transmission electron microscopy. Once the sample preparation is mastered, this versatile tool gives you the power to investigate the structural properties by electron diffraction and high resolution imaging, the chemical identity by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and the electronic structure by electron energy loss spectroscopy, all at the atomic scale. Not to forget that you can just take incredibly beautiful images of a tiny world hidden to the naked eye! Like astronauts who say to see the world from a different perspective once you have seen the earth from above, similar things happen when you see the world composed of atoms.
