Background
About Lata Maddipati
About Me I pursued a fellowship in obstetric anesthesia, drawn to women’s health and the unique energy and joy of the labor and delivery floor. Supporting patients through such a transformative time—helping them feel safe, heard, and cared for—is the most meaningful part of my work. My approach is centered on aligning care with what matters most to each individual, encouraging open conversations so patients feel empowered and supported throughout their journey. Beyond the OR My work extends well beyond direct patient care. I lead perinatal training through simulation and team training at our American Board of Anesthesiology–approved Simulation Center, coordinate UCSF’s obstetric anesthesia rotation at Kaiser, and serve as an Assistant Professor at UCSF School of Medicine. Global & Collective Impact Inspired by my colleagues and patients, I participate in global medical missions, which continue to reinforce my belief in the deep interconnectedness of people and communities worldwide. Well-being & Leadership As Chief of the Professional Well-being Committee and a leader in Physician Health and Wellness, I am passionate about supporting colleagues through the ups and downs of long medical careers. I also co-lead mindfulness and compassion retreats for physicians, weaving together trauma-informed care, self-reflection, and inclusive principles—practices that strengthen how we show up for our patients, our peers, and ourselves. What Drives Me At the heart of my work is a simple belief: safe, inclusive, compassionate, and collaborative environments are transformative.
