About Laura Bartley

As a Global Product Policy Manager at TikTok, I develop and implement policies that promote online safety and freedom of expression for millions of users worldwide. I work with cross-functional teams, external stakeholders, and industry partners to address complex and emerging challenges in the online information ecosystem. I have a strong academic background in security, intelligence, and strategic studies, having graduated from University of Glasgow with a MSc degree, and having attended summer schools and exchange programs at prestigious institutions such as Charles University in Prague, OTH Regensburg, and Sciences Po. I also have a BA degree in International Relations with French from Dublin City University, where I honed my communication, research, and analytical skills. Prior to joining TikTok, I was a Strategy Analyst at The Global Disinformation Index, where I conducted research and strategy projects on how to reduce the funding of disinformation online. I also engaged with advertisers, industry bodies, civil society, and government representatives on tech policy issues, and contributed to the development of tools and methodologies to measure and monitor the impact of disinformation. I am passionate about using technology as a tool to help strengthen democracy, human rights, and social justice. I have a keen interest in the topics of dis/misinfo, online political extremism, digital literacy, and media regulation, and have participated in various workshops, trainings, and competitions related to these fields. I am fluent in English and have a working knowledge of French.
