About Laura Bates

I have been in Healthcare since 1998, a Registered Nurse since 2004, and in Healthcare IT since 2008. I have specialized in surgical, medical, and cardiac intensive care units, as well as post anesthesia care in acute care hospitals and outpatient clinics. I have worked in large university teaching facilities and small community hospitals across the nation. As a float pool/travel nurse, I am quickly able to adjust to a different unit and hospital every day. In 2008, I expanded my nursing practice to include Healthcare IT. My clinical background and knowledge of numerous EMR systems allows me to effectively integrate physician and nursing workflow with computer requirements. In addition, I am able to identify individual methodologies for nurses and physicians to create results that ensure optimal patient outcomes while integrating computer-charting systems. I have nursing and implementation experience with Cerner, Eclipsys, and Epic EMR's. I enjoy teaching my fellow healthcare professionals and providing elbow to elbow support as well as analyzing work flow process. My goal is to assist in meeting regulatory requirements while ensuring patient safety and end user happiness! I'm an active member of HIMSS, and PMI. Currently working on PMP certification.
