About Laura Bell

As a seasoned music industry executive and Senior Board Member of the UK & EU Guild of Music Supervisors, I am proud to advocate for the craft of music supervision, shaping soundtracks for international films, documentaries, and series. Recent credits include Steve McQueen’s Occupied City, Oscar-winning director Mike van Diem's Our Girls, and Kleber Mendonça Filho’s The Secret Agent. Other notable projects include Happy Ending (Netflix), nominated for Best Placement of a Song at the 2024 Sound and Music Awards, and Modern Love Amsterdam (Amazon). The art of weaving together story and sound has always fascinated me. I draw on deep industry experience and networks to navigate the complexities of song curation, soundtrack licensing, and film score supervision. Through intentional collaboration with a diverse roster of composers and musicians from around the world, I strive to bring bold authenticity to each project. Recent work has taken me into the music of the Sámi people in Northern Norway and 1930s Finnish jazz, among others. I am also a strong advocate for emerging musicians and bands, regularly attending festivals worldwide to connect with independent artists, labels, and publishers. Recent music research trips include Bulgaria’s So Alive Music Conference and Colombia’s Sync Market. With a background as a soloist and performer in bands, orchestras, and ensembles, I graduated with First Class Honours from the Sydney Conservatorium and later studied at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. I also hold a Master of Management from the Australian Institute of Music, completed in the Sydney Opera House boardroom. In Australia, I served as Executive Producer and Manager of ABC Classics and Jazz at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, where I recorded ARIA Award-winning soloists, orchestras, and choirs in partnership with Universal Music. After relocating to Europe, I held roles as Head of Sync for BMG Talpa Music (The Netherlands) and Managing Director for BMG Production Music across Benelux, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. These experiences eventually led me to found my own company, Bell Music Supervision, driven by a long-standing passion for film and series.
