About Laura Daniell

Currently, I am working as an independently contracted psychiatrist and with various agencies serving patients in the public and private heath sector.I primarily work with adolescents, adults and geriatric patients. I am based in Arizona but also provide telepsychiatry services to patients in several other states. I have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from New York University, Ph.D. in pharmacology from the the University of Texas at Austin, and M.D. degree from Saba University (the Netherlands). My residency training at the Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine (formerly The Chicago Medical School) in Chicago was focused on neuropsychiatry but included cognitive behavioral therapy training, as well as ECT, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and intensive training in forensic psychiatry. I am Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry. I have more than ten years' experience in pre-clinical research in academic settings as an NIH-funded independent investigator, with expertise in neurochemical and behavioral genetic techniques. I have developed a variety of novel assays to assess mechanisms of action of drugs of abuse, as well as basic neurochemical mechanisms of drug action (especially involving glutamate receptors) and cellular signaling. I have produced more than forty scientific publications. I have strong skills in psychopharmacology, coordination of services for patients of high acuity, team leadership, provision of expert psychiatric testimony and performance of court ordered evaluations, a strong interest in forensics and court related testimony and advocacy, and experience in teaching medical students and residents in both pharmacology and psychiatry. I am a strong advocate for the provision of psychiatric services for the poor and underserved and new methodologies and technologies for provision of these services.
