About Laura Holmes

I am an enthusiastic and hard-working BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Health Science graduate (1:1), at Munster Technological University. I am immensely motivated to gain experience and to develop a career in Nutrition and Health, with highly beneficial skills that I gained from clubs and achievements as a student in Ballincollig Community School and part time employment as a sales assistant in Penneys. I’ve developed my knowledge and skills regarding the Food Industry in the laboratory during my 3rd year work experience in Danone Nutricia Early Life Nutrition, where I was giving the opportunity to work in three different laboratories. I got the opportunity to make media, conduct microbial tests of infant and young child formula, and to test base powder for its pH and nitrates content, as well as its nutritional content I developed outstanding teamwork and communication skills from being appointed a position on the Meitheal Team in 2018 as a 5th year student. These skills benefitted my work ethic enormously, which allowed me to achieve an Éacht Award nomination three years in a row and lead to achieving various certifications, including the Spikeball Leaders Award and Gaisce – The President’s Award in 2018. I also demonstrated customer service and problem-solving skills as a sales assistant in Penneys in Cork City.
