Creative thinker, committed to bringing skilled critical thinkers into the social work profession via challenging and supportive education. Quality social work education with focus on social justice issues across the curriculum is critical these days, and I am interested in playing a role in achieving the best we can offer. 25+ years as a federal grant reviewer for HRSA, SAMHSA, NIH, CDC including in 2023: Primary Care Training and Enhancement in Mental and Behavioral Health; Community Behavioral Health Clinics; Ryan White Care Act I & Homeless SMI, SED, SUD Treatment; Mental Health Awareness Training; Substance Use Disorder Training; Family Counseling Support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender/Queer Questioning, Intersex + youth and families. Extensive experience teaching in on-ground and online social work graduate programs: ethics; justice; family, couples, individual therapy; diversity related courses; trauma informed; field practice. Developed problem based model for teaching social work practice courses; ethics in practice courses; and diversity courses. Experienced in development and delivery of professional continuing education programs, conference presentations, and consultation with international social work programs. Multiple peer reviewed publications: 2 textbooks, chapters in texts, and 4 Instructor Manuals for popular social work textbooks. Topics: Oppression/Justice; ethics (dual relationships, decision making, informed consent, lgbtqi+ issues, etc); trauma related practice; etc.
