Background

About Laura Leden

I am a multi-professional with experience in the library, research, and translation fields. I currently work as a service manager at a public library. My goal as a team lead is to improve wellbeing at work. My PhD thesis about adaptation of girlhood in translations of girls' books was published in June 2021. My research interests include children's literature, translation and girlhood studies. Alongside my PhD thesis, I have written six peer-reviewed articles on these topics and presented at several international conferences, which has provided me a wide international network within children's literature and translation studies. Promoting children's reading and the visibility of classic girls' literature are some of my passions. Previously, I worked as a medical translator for more than 10 years and gained skills in translation, proofreading, text editing, and information retrieval within medicine and other fields. In addition to my translator training and PhD education, I have studied library and information science, which has provided me with qualifications to work in libraries and archives, included courses in a wide variety of library tasks from cataloging to marketing, and improved my information retrieval skills that are useful also in translation and in research. All of my roles have taught me excellent time-management and prioritizing skills, and I thrive in multi-professional environments.
