About Laura M. Alioto

For over a decade, Laura M. Alioto has trained and specialized in crisis management, catastrophic injuries and significant/severe mass/public safety events. While her everyday role focuses on managing a Global Program deeply rooted in safety, fraud, and payments, Laura's great personal passion lies in the survivor space. In her view, everyday is an opportunity to support, protect and promote safety - women's safety, LGBTQIA+ safety, etc - in whatever ways possible, in order to drive away the darkness and shed light on the intersection of safety and tech. And, there has never been a more pivotal moment to focus on and specialize in safety with the aggressive expansion and commercialization of AI. Laura Alioto graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder. As well, she attended St. Mary's College of California and John Cabot University in Rome where she received an intensely classical education in Italian Studies and Art History with a general focus on Italy in the Renaissance and, in particular, 14th - 16th century Italian literature. In addition to her full-time work, Laura is a part-time law student and sits on Uber's External Impact DEI Council focusing on Pro Bono initiatives and community service efforts. In fact, she was the first employee at Uber to receive an internal "badge" recognizing her contributions to the pro bono program, specifically for her work on immigration clinics and sexual/domestic violence programs. In following the well-trodden path paved by her family, Ms. Alioto is currently in her last year of law school and plans to sit for the California Bar in 2024. Though she has yet to choose a long-term specialty within the law, Laura is deeply passionate about safety and privacy. She will look to expand her knowledge (and certifications) into data privacy and screenings from the US & International lenses in the near future. She is currently (and very happily) a recent transplant to beautiful Chicago, IL. Thrilled to be in the windy city as she might be, San Francisco will always, indisputably and forever have her heart.
