About Laura Malmstrom

I am a professional school counselor at a drop out prevention program in Newark, Delaware. I have extensive experience in building a district wide ASCA model based school counseling program in a K-12 public school district. I served on the board of the Delaware School Counseling Association from 2004 to 2010 and was Delaware School Cou.selor of the year in 2019. As an adjunct assistant professor at Wilmington University, I teach Psychology courses. My goal is to build global knowledge of the impact that school counseling has on student achievement while assisting and supporting school counselors in developing strategies for implementing strong, data driven programs that will serve and meet the needs of all students. Specialties: Specialties include the use of data to drive school counseling programming and accountability, standards based counseling curriculum development, understanding legislative issues and policy, developing and facilitating training of strategies to increase student engagement, and creative student need driven master schedule building.
