About Laura Mantz

I graduated from Western University with a Masters of Environment and Sustainability. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts from King’s University College with a Major in Social Justice and Peace Studies and a Minor in Political Science. Topics pertaining to social issues and equity are one of the three pillars of sustainability. My educational backgrounds complement one another and have encouraged me to expand how I approach topics related to sustainability and the environment. With these valuable academic tools, I am directly able to apply my learning to my current role as a Sustainability Associate in the Office of Sustainability at Western University. Part of my role focuses on working to implement new and improved initiatives at Western University ranging from waste management to transportation to engagement, campus wide. I have a passion for education and making discussions around sustainability and the environment as accessible and inclusive as possible. Working in a team setting is where I see myself thrive most. Collaborating and brainstorming with others helps provide me with the tools to work and think creatively on my own. I believe when working on projects, considering diverse perspectives helps further promote sustainability initiatives that are intersectional in approach.
