About Laura Mitchell

I am a HE lecturer with over 10 years of experience in the UK specializing in critical management, human resource management, organisational behaviour and business ethics. Doesn't sound very specialist, does it? But then, how we work is constantly affected by everything from psychology to politics. I am fascinated by group dynamics, and how what we do together produces who we are as individuals. In today's society much of what we do together happens in the workplace, so that's where I have concentrated my attention. Learning doesn't need to be chalk and talk. I develop innovative and play-based learning interventions, with an ambition to improve learning outcomes and accessibility whether students are in formal education or just participating in day training. I lecture and provide training and management education in a range of areas in human resource management and organisational behaviour; including topics such as diversity, organisational culture, ethics, sustainability and wellbeing. As a scholar my research specialisms are dedicated to understanding the cultural development of values and the promotion of dignity at work in the performance of everyday life. I am happy to support a range of youth development programmes and activities supporting access to HE, as well as mentoring research applicants.
