About Laura Mudde

I am a PhD candidate at the University of Humanistic Studies and a lecturer/design coach at the University of the Arts Utrecht. My PhD project is a participatory action research study on moral learning in care contexts. I study how care professionals explore, navigate and reflect on what good care means in practice, and the learning processes this entails. My research focuses on two contexts: care for people with intellectual disabilities and care for veterans with moral injury. I approach this work through a mix of ethnographic fieldwork, in-depth interviews, and reflective meetings within communities of practice. These communities bring together clients, caregivers, and managers to collectively explore and shape practices of good care. Alongside my research, I teach in the Social Design bachelor’s program at the University of the Arts Utrecht. My courses focus on creative research methods, ethics, and diversity & inclusion. Before starting my PhD, I have gained 10 years of experience as a curator of socially engaged art exhibitions and artistic research projects.
