About Laura Mudde

I am a Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Fellow located on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territories of the Sqilxʷ/ Syilx (Okanagan) peoples (Kelowna) at the Canadian Institute for Inclusion and Citizenship at the University of British Columbia. In the Policy, Practice, and Ethics research stream, I support the Institute's research on issues concerned with policy, structures, and direct practice in the field, connecting local (provincial), national, and international policy and practice developments. From this location, I am also appointed as the 2025-2026 ADVANCE Network Fellow; a national collaboration of scholars, community partners, and people with lived and living experience driving meaningful change for neurodiverse youth and their families across Canada. As a previous college professor and university teaching fellow, I have a strong teaching record, where I use experiential learning tools for positive student evaluations in both introductory and higher-level courses in Sociology and related disciplines. My teaching philosophy is based on a strong commitment to student success, development, and belonging. In the past six years, I designed and taught curriculum in an energetic and personal way, including synchronous and asynchronous teaching in various modalities. It is an honor and a privilege to work for and with diverse groups of people every day. Our work embraces a sociological imagination, people-centered practices, and social justice principles.
