About Laura Pointer

I’m a teacher with an insatiable desire for learning. I worked in the public school system as an elementary teacher for four years, teaching both kindergarten and first grade. I loved my job but wanted to devote my attention to raising our own young children. I was blessed to stay home full-time as we welcomed five children via foster care adoption and birth. When I was ready to work part-time, I had an amazing opportunity to work at our local church. I served as the Children’s Ministry Director and was then promoted to Director of Connections and Outreach. In both roles, I gained invaluable leadership experience within the church.My husband and I then spent the past several years learning how to remodel, sell, and rent properties. I was an Airbnb host for three years, and now I’m a landlord for our long-term rental. We bought seven properties in seven years - most of which needed repairs. We’ve learned so much along the way. In my current day-to-day life, I’m a homeschool mom and an active volunteer in our church. I also recently authored a book: “Healthy Eating on a Budget.” I love teaching my children at home and would like to teach other children, as well. I believe that my self-motivation, desire to keep learning, and proven communication skills would make me a great online teacher.
