About Laura Simpson

Graduated from Aberdeen University in Management Studies. I love to explore and travel the world. Therefore I have purposely experienced different internships in London, France, Australia & New York to gain knowledge and new experiences from different cultures. Whilst studying at University I spent four years as a supervisor in a thriving and popularized central bar in town. Following this I became a bar manager and covering duty manager of a hotel in France. This was valuable hospitality experience. I like to take on creative roles, whether that may be networking on my feet or speaking on the phone to colleagues/journalists to have a further personal approach or connection. Having ran events since University for fundraisers, trips abroad and clients I now possess excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to develop and maintain mutually beneficial internal and external relationships. Able to work well both independently and as part of a productive team, demonstrating the multi-tasking abilities required to meet demanding deadlines, whilst maintaining the highest of standards. I therefore gladly took on the role as the Senior events manager for the opening of the Eclectic hotel chain King Street Town House. Following this, I ventured into consumer marketing and worked as a PR Assistant Account Executive for Weber Shandwick. This put me in a great position for my move to London to take on the role of Lead Media Officer at the City of London Corporation for Open Spaces and Port Health & Environmental Services. I am currently responsible for activating a building app, creating a community profile and improving customer experience. This predominantly involved creating the placemaking strategy to increase customer engagement, management of all marketing and digital channels including our website, newsletter and app, development of a new loyalty scheme with local retailers, and management of onsite events. With a strong passion for stakeholder engagement, I am adaptable across different industries and have a natural aptitude for developing experiences that increase engagement and drive customer loyalty. I am a committed member of the team who enjoys working with like-minded colleagues to meet challenges and break new ground.
