Background
About Laura Sinclair
Hi, I’m Laura! I am a violist, teacher, and coach who grew up as a farmgirl in a fishing village of 300. I traded the snowy tundra of Canada for the palm trees and sandy beaches of Florida. The important things that were instilled in me like work-ethic, resourcefulness, and the importance of community ended up in the suitcase. I use my Delray Beach home as a launching pad for a life of teaching, performing, and traveling (sometimes all three at once!). As an active performer. I can be found on the concert stage with ensembles like the Naples Philharmonic, Atlantic Classical Orchestra, and Boca Symphonia, in the pit with the National Broadway tour of Hamilton and other musicals, and at private events with Elan Artists. A 20-year veteran studio owner, I am also a former Title I public school strings director. Presently, I am the music curriculum director for the Volta Music Foundation, providing educational training and support to their teachers and developing a diverse repertoire sequence. I am passionate about helping other teachers develop smart business practices through my bespoke coaching program “Stress-Free Studio” and presenting talks around the country. I have presented in conferences, lecture halls, and virtual spaces for higher education institutions like the New England Conservatory of Music, Lynn Conservatory of Music, Florida Atlantic University, the American String Teachers Association, the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and convenings across the country for Jazz Roads for South Arts. You can hear me on the Tales from The Lane podcast with Kate Kayaian, Time to Practice with Christine Goodner, and Tech Conversations at FIU's Ratcliffe Art + Design Incubator with guest host Neil Ramsey. I firmly believe that music can be a powerful tool for breaking down barriers and building good citizens of the world through the next generation. Learn more at https://linktr.ee/lauraksinclair
