About Laura Steinberg

I find myself to be a flexible, organized, creative, and comical person. I am also very passionate and dedicated to whatever I am pursuing. I enjoy teaching because I am able to help children earn something that no one can take away from them-knowledge. To see the look on their face when they grasp a concept they thought they never could, that right there is why I love teaching. I grew up in Philadelphia and attended Philadelphia public schools all of my life. I began teaching for the School District of Philadelphia directly after college. I was hired in the summer of 2012 and began teaching Harrington Elementary that fall. I taught at Harrington for four years spanning several grade levels: second, literacy intervention, third grade, and fifth grade. During my time there, I ran the student of the month program, awards program, all online interventions (FIM, Study Islant, TTR), and was the PSSA point person for the 2014/2015 school year. At the conclusion of the 2015-2016 school year, I voluntarily transferred schools and will be teaching Sixth Grade Math and Science at Mitchell Elementary in the Turnaround Network beginning the fall of 2016. I earned my M. Ed. In Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Leadership. For further goals, I hope to earn additional certifications. ultimately, I would love to become a superintendent.
