About Laura Stuart

Laura received her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of Washington in 2006 and received her Master’s of Occupational Therapy from the University of Washington in December 2010. Due to her passion for working with children, Laura chose to complete one of her fieldwork internships in pediatrics at Kindering Center (a birth to three center) in Bellevue. Laura’s Master’s project, in collaboration with 2 classmates, focused on the researching and designing a comprehensive program for early intervention for Autism for a local birth-to-three center. Laura was invited to present her project at the Master of Occupational Therapy Annual Symposium in June 2010. Laura has had a strong interest in Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy and participated in a program providing fine motor therapy at Boyer’s Children’s Clinic in Seattle for an intensive Constraint-Induced program, and was also involved in an independent study through Seattle Children’s Hospital for Constraint Induced Movement Therapy. Laura was subsequently been able to bring this innovative therapy to Kids At Play Therapy. Laura has had varied experiences working in pediatrics prior to receiving her occupational therapy degree including working in 2 childcare facilities, working as a nanny/ babysitter, and being a camp counselor and tennis coach for 3 summers at a sleep-away summer camp for girls in Massachusetts. Laura has had an ever growing passion for sensory processing disorders and working with children since discovering occupational therapy.Laura is certified in neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT) and has continuing education in feeding therapy, rhythmic movement, sensory processing, integrated listening system and handwriting without tears.
