Main current researches-"Artistic resources and cultural planning"(Prin 2006-2008)-“Cultures of Control: The State, Society and the Aesthetics of Power” (Norwegian Research Council and the Institute of Social Anthropology research programme Challenging the State)-Through the medium of a critical urban sociology and the sociology of the arts, we propose to focus on such topics as the intersection of power, politics and the arts (architecture, history, philosophy, art and literature for instance) in the daily lives of city dwellers, and their implications for the constant reconfiguring of the ideologies and institutions of state apparatuses-Moreover, while sustainability offers an inspiring research field for artists and other cultural actors, the arts and other cultural sectors constitute experimental, reflexive and transformative fields for the advancement of sustainability.
