About Laura Wallis

I love systems. This means I excel in roles that allow me to identify, grow, and create systems that positively impact the people who use them. I enjoy relating my engineering experience to human serving systems. I am a public speaker, a technical writer, a manager of people and systems, and an advocate for those stuck in systems that don't get them where they need to go. I started as a Professional Civil Engineer, registered in Arizona, Idaho and California. I am experienced with plan design and review for local transportation, water, sewer, storm drain and irrigation design. I am organized, detail oriented, and a stickler for quality control. I have experience with budgets, project management, technical writing, and staffing. Past roles as President/Director/Board Member of non-profit organizations increased my management experience, including: creating interagency collaborations; building consensus within organizations, departments, and stakeholders; budgeting; creating policies and procedures for programs; identifying new staff; and overseeing a variety of programs for the staff and patrons served by the organizations.
