About Laura Wuetschner

In my role as Deputy Director of the Corporate Finance team at Curtin University I wear many different hats, but principally my team is the head office finance team of the University. We look after the University’s treasury function, management reporting, annual budgets, statutory accounts and student fees, as well as the new Curtin exchange precinct. I work with the broader finance team who are out on the ground working with the faculties, the transactions team, and the data analytics and financial business improvement teams to help us work smarter, not harder. I love to network and meet new and interesting people. Connecting people in my network with each other brings me a great sense of joy. I have a passion for supporting the startup community in Perth. I have mentored students from Profectus UWA (UWA's entrepreneur association), mentored at PwC's digital challenge in partnership with Synergy and also was a participant at Startup Weekend Perth at Spacecubed. There are so many clever people in Perth and they need support from the business community to thrive. I worked for 12 years at PwC in the PrivateClients team, specialising in accounting and taxation for entrepreneurs, family businesses, high net wealth individuals and private companies of all sizes. I also developed skills in the business advisory space where I assisted my clients in developing financial reports, budgets, forecasts and tools to assist in the financial management of their businesses.
