About Laure Nolet

I did my undergraduate at UCL in Neuroscience, where I became interested in transgenic animal models, behavioural experiments in rodents d receptor properties and psychopharmacology. Through my deep-rooted interest in physics, I completed a dissertation in the Beato lab investigating recurrent inhibition in renshaw cells of ALS-model mouse spinal cords through voltage clamping. I did my MSc in Translational Neuroscience at Imperial College London from which I graduated in September 2021. For my thesis I worked with the Psychedelic Research Group and did qualitative and quantitative research on the combined effects of music and psilocybin. I have a specific interest in the use of psychedelics to treat addiction and corresponding brain connectivity measured with EEG. I am also interested in lifetime use of classic psychedelics and their influence on lifestyle choices. I worked as a Research Scientist at Clerkenwell Health for over a year. I am continuing my research on the effects of setting on the psychedelic experience, including music as well as other less well-studied setting elements. I assist in client regulatory advice, protocol editing for clinical trial submissions and grant applications. One of my main research interests is music. Music is crucial to the psychedelic experience but also has a big influence mood in non-altered states. It connects with emotions whether it be sadness, happiness/joy, nostalgia power, elation. I could go on; music is a very big part of my life.(you will often find me in clubs such as fabric, pickle factory, star lane and lion and lamb)
