I'm a dynamic, creative, highly effective arts education & social justice professional based in Los Angeles, CA on unceded Tonva/Kizh/Chumash/Tataviam land: a facilitator, an organizer, an administrator, a performing artist, and a sought-after consultant for organizations and individuals nationwide. I'm also the Director of Youth Programming for Everyday Arts, the Arts Education Specialist for the Entertainment Community Fund, a faculty instructor in the Arts Education Program in the College of Fine Arts at Loyola Marymount University, and a Doctor of Educational and Professional Practice with a Social Justice Leadership specialization from Antioch University. Since moving to Los Angeles, some of my career highlights have included serving as Associate Director of UCLA’s Visual and Performing Arts Education program, Arts Education & Social Emotional Learning Specialist for the LA County Office of Education, and Youth Development & Leadership Specialist for the Arts for Incarcerated Youth Network. I've been honored to present my award-winning work as both an artist and a public intellectual in many publications and on many stages. My consulting practice, Laurel Butler Consulting LLC, is celebrating four years this July! My specialty as a consultant is developing and facilitating educational programs that engage people of all positionalities at the intersection of the arts, social justice, and social-emotional wellbeing.
