About Lauren Appio

Dr. Lauren Appio is a NY-state licensed psychologist in private practice who has provided psychotherapy, career coaching, and organizational consulting for over 10 years. She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University and has been featured in Huffington Post, New York Magazine, Buzzfeed, and O - The Oprah Magazine. How I work: As a psychologist, executive coach, and organizational consultant, I work with cycle breakers: people who want to change the way things have always been done. One on one, I tend to work with clients who are the go-to people in their work & personal lives. My clients typically experience burn out, chronic guilt, and imposter syndrome and seek to build trust in themselves, communicate effectively, and set boundaries with confidence. Sitting (or zooming) across from me, you will find that I am warm, candid, interactive, and a little irreverent at times. Humor, making mistakes, and feelings of any kind are all welcome! I provide space for reflection that allows clients to build their compassion and self-understanding, and I’m always ready to offer practical skills, strategies, and suggestions for how they can implement insights in their daily life now. As a consultant, I partner directly with organizations, ERGs, & leadership teams to identify opportunities to make their workplaces genuinely better, healthier places for employees. I am most often invited to speak and consult about issues related to mental health at work, DEI, and burn out prevention. I don’t provide the “business case” for diversity, explain how stress management improves productivity, or talk about how a healthy culture attracts and retains excellent talent. Why? It’s dehumanizing and we should already know this by now! You & your colleagues are inherently more valuable than the work you do or profits you generate - and, of course, your organization would cease to exist if not for you and all of the people who power it.
