About Lauren Hogberg

An Oncology Nursing background driven by managing process improvement, implementing organizational change and fostering leadership in a healthcare environment. My ideal career would have a balance of leadership and business oriented focus, within a healthcare setting. Currently, I am employed as a Registered Nurse at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre with a sub-title of CoACT Unit Lead. My career focus at present is critically analyzing current processes with the intention of streamlining services to better provide care in partnership with patients and families. Secondary endpoint of procuring cost savings to the organization. Currently responsible for the adaptation of current CoACT guidelines within an ambulatory setting and for contributing to the creation of the CoACT Ambulatory Care Framework, with the intention of province-wide implementation. Previous to this role, I held the title of Nurse Clinician at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. A supervisory position with oversight to 150 staff members of both nursing and clerical backgrounds. This position required close communication and coordination with a multi-disciplinary team including, but not limited to, front-line workers, physicians, management and Directors. Responsibilities- oversight of day to day operations - process improvement - change management - implementation of recommendations/ guidelines within the practice setting My passion for self-development and leadership is evidenced by my continuing education in specialty courses that fall within this area and by my diverse nursing portfolio to date. Within this area of interest I have also pursued volunteer experience with a mentorship focus by actively participating in a 6 month mentorship program with a student nurse in the community. Other volunteer experience includes- organizing a charitable raffle for the Tom Baker Cancer Centre patients/ families - facilitating continuing education opportunities for nursing staff at my site In my career I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to present at the Canadian Nurses in Oncology (CANO) conference on the importance of student nursing exposure to the Oncology practice setting. I have also recently submitted a second application for presentation on my recent work as CoACT Unit Lead. I was awarded with Daisy Award in 2018 for exemplary patient and family-centered care.
