About Lauren Samuelson

My educational credentials include a Master’s Degree in Special Education with a concentration in autism spectrum disorder, a Connecticut Teaching Certification (k-12), an undergraduate degree in psychology and experience as a graduate assistant at Southern Connecticut State University’s Center of Excellence on Autism Spectrum Disorders. My resume will highlight my commitment to many different experiences that showcase my knowledge in differentiated instruction, collaboration, adaptability and flexibility. I have immersed myself in any opportunity that has come my way that allowed me to grow as an educator in the field of special education. I have thoroughly enjoyed the diverse and unique opportunities that I have had in all levels including elementary, middle, high schools and transition out of high school. I have worked with students who have disabilities including autism, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbances, ADD/ADHD, speech/language impairments, auditory processing disorders, noncompliant behaviors and physical disabilities. I have had experience with children on the spectrum both in and out of a school environment. All of my experiences thus far have helped me recognize my passion for children and the field of special education. I see each student as an individual and try to teach and encourage them by understanding their personality and learning style. I try to incorporate different types of technology, learning centers, pair/group work, and projects to engage the students and make learning exciting. Positive behavior interventions are key to my style of teaching to the learning environment as supportive, beneficial and productive as possible.
