About Lauren Scott-Briningstool

Lauren Scott-Briningstool, a results-oriented administrator with a background in strategic communications and a keen understanding of organizational structures. She serves as Chief of Staff for the Executive Vice President for Administration at Michigan State University and teaches an introductory writing for public relations skills course in the College of Communications Arts and Sciences. Previously, Lauren was the Senior Communications Manager at MSU. She was responsible for developing, supporting and implementing strategic communications for both offices – respectively – aligned with the university’s vision, mission and strategic priorities, as well as with overarching messaging and branding foci. She coordinated efforts between in-unit communications professionals reporting to both offices, producing comprehensive plans, as well as executing and assisting with internal and external communications to amplify the respective offices’ commitments, vision, and strategic initiatives. The work focused on building trust, engagement, and visibility across our internal teams, in addition to the MSU community. Before her tenure at Michigan State, Lauren worked at Allstate where she supported nationally focused proactive media outreach initiatives on their External Affairs team where she was a part of the execution of strategic external Public Relations campaigns like Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report and components of Allstate’s sports marketing sponsorships. Additionally, she supported the company’s National Disaster Prep and Recovery efforts, before and after catastrophes. Prior to her departure, she provided strategic communications support and content creation for service product owners, in addition to developing communication strategies and materials to support new programs and processes to advance department priorities. An alumna of Michigan State University and DePaul University, Lauren holds a Master of Arts in Public Relations and Advertising from DePaul and a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication from Michigan State. Beyond her professional achievements, she actively engages in community service, serving as the Communications Officer for the Midwest Invitational Rodeo and contributing to various organizations, including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, the Junior League of Lansing, and the Eastside Community Action Center. Lauren is also a proud graduate of Michigan State’s Financial Administrator Development Program and the Leadership Lansing program a part of the 2022-2023 cohorts.
