About Laurence Binks

I started as a driver at Firstbus in 2011 and have worked as an inspector since 2014. During this time I have gained experience in Traffic Control and in the control room setting (taking calls from drivers, liasing with other departments and regulating the network of buses to minimise disruption and keep the buses moving and to time) As of a couple of years ago I moved back into the 'on-street' inspector role where I am tasked to maintain the performance of the network out on the road and assisting drivers, controllers and the general public with any requirements that may suit. I have undertaken a secondment of Subject Matter Expert within my local business unit to help deliver a people centric project to help engage and empower the teams whilst building on retention of staff and keeping attrition down- it is a fantastic project and really suits my skillset. Further to this I have had a great opportunity to work closer with all my team as a Relations/engagement champion, someone that can be the middle person between management and our front line workers. In my spare time I also chair a volunteer community group of which we organise enviornment led projects for residents and local businesses to get involved with.This has many benefits for wildlife and residents alike. Some examples of previous projects are planting, litterpicking and horticulture management around our newly developed urban enviorment.
