About Lauri Garrett

Director of Strategic Initiatives & Projects, Office of the CEO, at Carient Heart & Vascular. A creative problem-solver recognized for working collaboratively both as a leader and team member, she has more than 25 years in the healthcare industry. While serving at Carient for the past 4 years, Lauri has demonstrated her innate ability to be detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated. In addition to working closely with Carient’s CEO, Lauri is in charge of planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget. Her major contributions include establishing the Carient Center for Research & Education, implementing a telehealth program to enable telecardiology services, and working with the Carient team to implement a Cardiac PET program, the second in the state of Virginia. Prior to joining Carient, Lauri was the Program Manager for IFMC Surgical Services at Inova Health System. Lauri led quality improvements for the Sterile Processing Department, operationally transitioned surgical volume from 8 existing ORs to 8 new ORs, and helped establish a single system-wide SPM database and Epic interface. Moreover, she operated her own medical transcription business for 17 years. Lauri earned an Associate of Science in Cancer Registry Management from Darton College and completed her Clinical Practicum at Inova Alexandria Hospital. She is also a Certified Tumor Registrar and Member of the Project Management Institute and the National Cancer Registrars Association.
