About Lauri Harvey

I have the best job ever: working with children who struggle with literacy and watching them gain the skills and confidence needed to be successful readers. Because they are little kids, they still think I'm super smart -) and tall (!). I am able to love on them, teach them, guide them, and be an approachable adult to whom they can turn when their lives are in turmoil (quite often, unfortunately). I have always been fascinated with the acquisition of literacy and different learning styles. As a teacher, I strive to build rapport with my students and their parents/care- givers, differentiate my instruction to reach all types of learners, and nurture a love of reading. Oh, yes, and have some FUN in the process! Who says school has to be all work! My goal is to not only meet the cognitive needs of my students, but to look at the whole child, including the physical, social and emotional components, which are not exclusive, and equally important.
