About Lauri Komulainen

Hello! I'm a 29-year-old computer science student and early-career programmer from Siilinjärvi, Finland. My long-standing interest in information technology and the desire to combine my knowledge of technology and healthcare led me to coding. Before transitioning into programming, I worked as a nurse for seven years in specialized and primary healthcare. This time provided me with a solid foundation in people-oriented work, sharpened my organizational skills, and taught me stress management. During my four years of study at the University of Eastern Finland, I have acquired a wide range of skills in programming and system design. I have felt particularly at home working with JavaScript, Node.js, Java, HTML, and CSS. In addition, I have delved into version control and pipeline implementation using Azure and GitLab, as well as databases like MySQL, SQLite and NoSQL. My education has also given me the opportunity to explore the use of tools like Power BI and Custom Vision. I gained valuable practical experience in software development during my most recent internship at GE Healthcare. As a member of a multinational team, I had the chance to work in both backend and frontend development, deepening my understanding of the software development lifecycle, interfaces, and architecture. I believe that by combining my healthcare background and IT expertise, I can bring a unique perspective and added value to healthcare technology projects. Although I am just starting out in the field of computer science, I am known as a fast learner with a determined approach and a desire to continually develop my skills.
