About Laurie Austen
Numbers and technology have always fascinated me. After completing my GCSEs, my mother Julie Austen, who has been working in bookkeeping for over 20 years and I decided to open our own bookkeeping company (Bookkeepers in Buckingham, also known as BIB) in the heart of Buckingham. The business met great success, having won six international LUCA awards over six years. Including myself becoming the youngest winner of 'Bookkeeper of the year' in 2016, at age 21. Bookkeeping stimulated my passion for numbers and in 2017 I decided to pursue my infatuation with computing at the University of Buckingham. My bachelors allowed me to delve into the world of computing and implement my knowledge into BIB's daily operations. During my studies, the Algorithm Analysis and Information Security modules have fuelled my passion for technical system design. I am deeply proud to have already received a certificate for the best performance in prelim exams of 2019 and am excited for future challenges that await me. I am currently in an exciting graduate developer role at IG Group, and hope to absorb as much knowledge and experience as possible.
