About Laurie Kaplan
I grew up in the suburbs of NYC and went off to college in Wisconsin. Torn between veterinaray medicine and literature, I graduated with a BS in Literature and then went to UConn for animal pathobiology so I could apply to vet school. I took a year off from school to work at a small animal vet clinic and decided that I did not want to be a vet. I started writing / publishing educational slide shows, films and videos for high school students. In the early 80s I started taking freelance jobs writing magazine articles about cats and dogs and found a great job in the late 90s as editor of the Tufts Univ Vet School publication, Catnip. In 2004 I self-published "Help Your Dog Fight Cancer" and founded the Magic Bullet Fund.
