About Lavada Carruthers

I possess a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) which included considerable focus on Human Resource Management and Development, Operations and Marketing. Throughout my career I focused on contributing to the area of Human resource Management and Development. Gaining over 10 years of experience in the area. This includes managing employee relations, compensation, benefits, performance management, professional development and succession planning. Additional experience includes lecturing the course in Human Resources Management at the University College of the Caribbean in Jamaica. Other achievements include making valuable improvements to professional development programs and employee relations at organizations I served. At FosRich Company Limited I conducted an analysis of causal factors for the high rate in staff turnover which formed the basis of a revised Human Resources policy that contributed to increased employee retention and a reduction in the cost of recruitment. I also developed and led the delivery of staff development training in Customer Service and Dispute Resolution. While at the Incorporated Masterbuilders Association of Jamaica (IMAJ) I introduced staff to new meeting and information management techniques that resulted in improved quality of reports produced by staff and consequently, the organization. At both FosRich and the IMAJ I developed new Performance Management policies and tools that contributed to increased accountability of staff. In doing this the organizations were better able to identify and record staff performance. This contributed to improved relations between managers and their direct reports as both parties became more aware of each other’s value and importance to their own performance. Along with the HR skills, I have a creative and positive energy and strong organization, project management, consulting and communication skills accompanied by a strong desire to work with others toward a common goal.
