About Laveesh Bhandari

I am an economist entrepreneur and environment evangelist now catalyzing policies towards inclusion and environmentally sustainable employment. I advocate inclusive and sustainable economic policies through CSEP which I head Indicus Foundation which I advise and also in my advisory capacity. Past: Post receiving a PhD degree in Economics for a thesis on international alliances I worked for a US-based hedge fund pricing complex derivatives; later I led studies on industrial policy at a Delhi-based think tank. Following this I taught Economics at IIT Delhi as a Visiting Professor and was Managing Editor of Journal of Emerging Market Finance. I started Indicus Analytics in 2001 to conduct data analytics and research in the socio-economic inclusion space. I exited that role in 2016 after its successful merger with Neilsen (India). I have conducted studies for and advised the topmost academic policy organizations and industries including RBI GOI state governments Harvard and Oxford Universities Google IKEA Microsoft etc. I have a deep interest in emerging technologies and how they interface with policy and institutional priorities. I have led the development of the cell grid platform which is an economic demographic and spatial database for every square kilometre of India estimated by artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms using satellite imagery among other big-data sources. I have also actively contributed to India’s accelerated progress in the digital domain and have seeded start-ups in online research and analytics value-added services and vernacular technologies.
