About Lavjit Singh

I have experience in spearheading digital transformation initiatives for the utility sector, focusing on transmission, distribution and market management functions. I have successfully delivered projects and solutions aimed at solving future complexity of energy systems. These include advanced market management systems, control centres of future, digital and reliability driven asset management systems, grid datahubs and strategy, etc. The key direction taken in such projects is to deploy best practices in application, technology and information architecture (interoperability) to navigate the challenges of digital transformation. I am basing lot of projects on right use of data standards, and have enabled several utilities adapt a sound information strategy and data lifecycle management practices. With an initial career in power market operations, I also specialise in crafting advanced market management systems that facilitate flexibility markets, enhance consumer-centric services, and support the integration of renewable energy sources and distributed energy resources (DERs). I was part of several European innovation projects including FLEXITRANSTORE, FLEXIGRID and INTERRFACE, wherein I was responsible for delivery of key work packages linked to enhanced market design, DER business models, local markets and energy management. As part of Elia TSO Group, I am also extensively involved in supporting Belgium Consumer Centric Market Design implementation, and thus bring deep understanding and design competencies on market operations. I today lead the Smart Grid Design & Digitalization practice at Elia Grid International, and am leading ongoing data and digital transformation for utilities in Europe and Middle East. I am also closely associated with digital accelerators in Elia Group such as AI/ML & IIoT CoEs, TechLabs, Incubators, etc. focusing on innovations and scale up of new technologies.
