About Lawrence Chandra

I am a Chartered Insurance Professional and have completed my risk management certification program. I am certified in information mapping and have received training in Darwin Information Type Architecture (DITA) and XML authoring. I am currently the Assistant Treasurer for the British Columbia Muslim Association, one of the five largest non-profit organizations in British Columbia. In this role I work closely with members of different communities, MLA’s, MP’s and relevant government departments to deal with community and policy issues. At ICBC, I deal with administrative fairness and processes encompassing the entire corporation. This role leads me to interact with Claims, Driver Licensing and Insurance divisions of ICBC. I have experience in policy and procedures, auditing, preparing reports, creating templates, risk assessment and management, project work, leading teams and doing board presentations. My other strengths include: • Training and working with Adobe Contribute, HTML Transit, Dream Weaver, Oxygen, DITA open tool kit publishing software • Creating topics/maps, authoring and information architecture for DITA XML environment • Procedural and policy writing • Extensive knowledge in insurance • Business analysis including gathering requirements, field and data analysis, and documenting and presenting impacts • Experience in Project Management, leading teams, and working in Disciplined Agile and Waterfall environments • Working with the Canadian Provincial and Federal legislation • Experience in dealing with administrative fairness and responding to Ministerial, MLA, Ombudsperson, Fairness Commissioner and general public inquiries • Experience with claims subrogation including third party insurers, and claims recovery litigation • Experience in providing training to individuals, mentoring, supervising, and doing presentations. I am also a community driven individual and volunteer for various things when I am not working.
